by Morgan Bell | Oct 04, 2016

KC SmartPort, along with individuals from the Kansas City Heartland Roundtable, participated in the 2016 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. The unique event offered 16 tracks and more than 90 sessions of professional development and educational opportunities including real world strategies for process improvement, profit maximization, budget oversight, and talent development and retention for attendees given by other CSCMP industry leaders. It is the only event that represents the entire supply chain from end-to-end.

The opening keynote was given by history-making U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly who captivated the world while laying the groundwork for the future of space travel and exploration. Captain Scott Kelly is a U.S. astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Captain who spent 382 days in space, the record for the total accumulated number of days by an American astronaut.

Attendees also heard from Chief Digital Officer of GE Transportation Seth Bodnar about how technology can best be used to improve supply chain management. Seth’s presentation focused on how software, data and analytics are driving automation and enhanced outcomes in the rail industry and beyond.

The three-day event offered numerous educational opportunities and career insights for supply chain professionals, educators and students.
