Investor Highlight | UTXL

by KC SmartPort Intern | Aug 05, 2019

UTXL was established 22 years ago in Kansas City, Mo., by a management team holding over 100 years combined asset based trucking experience. They designed and started a third-party logistics company  to help narrow the gap between smaller/medium sized contract motor carriers that are effectively “invisible” to the shippers needing them the most. Today, UTXL is ranked as one of Kansas City’s largest 100 Private Companies and has been designated as one of the Nation’s Top 100 3PLs for the third straight year.

UTXL maintains strong working relationships with thousands of smaller/medium sized “entrepreneurial” contract motor carriers that provide specialized over-the-road truckload and multi-stop freight services in niche locations throughout North America, but they typically do not have their own sales staff nor are they able to provide the electronic TMS/EDI communications capabilities 24x7x365 that most shippers require today. These carriers also tend to run in niche lanes to get their drivers home more often, creating a lower driver turnover rate, better maintained equipment and maintain a culture with a stronger sense of caring and long lasting customer relationships with UTXL. By connecting these otherwise “invisible” motor carriers to the transportation marketplace, UTXL is able to provide responsive, dependable and seamless service to all of its customers and at lean prices.

As UTXL “pursues perfection and achieves excellence” safely, it relies strongly on its Kansas City team of professional employees and long time strategic vendors such as the KC-based Dysart, Taylor Law Firm and Lockton Companies Insurance Agency.  UTXL is a process oriented company that relies on its comprehensive systems to ensure compliance is planned, practiced and executed within all its processes allowing both the customer and carrier to know their business and services are handled with the utmost care and dedication.
