Kansas Legislators Approve 10-year Transportation Program

On March 19, Kansas legislators passed a $10 billion transportation infrastructure plan named The Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, which has a focus on safety and economic growth. 

The program will span 10 years of scheduled projects, allowing for the maintenance and improvement of roads and highways in Kansas. Additionally, there is funding for broadband infrastructure grants and improvements to the state’s short line railroad system.

The Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program is named after President Dwight Eisenhower, the Kansan who pushed for construction of the U.S. interstate highway system.

On Friday, April 3, Governor Laura Kelly signed Senate Bill 173 creating the new 10-year Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program.
