Port KC serves as a public redevelopment organization for the purpose of generating new capital investment for both private venture and public infrastructure in order to produce new job opportunities, and increased tax base, and for the overall economic vitality of Kansas City.
At the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, CenterPoint Properties has the 317-acre Phase I pad ready for facilities of any size. Port KC has 480,000 sq. ft. of light industrial adjacent to a sophisticated Kansas City Southern rail hub making this the most significant and exciting industrial park development in the region.
Port KC is dedicated to waterborne Missouri River commerce and trade. The Port of Kansas City – Woodswether Terminal reopened in the summer of 2015. Plans are currently underway to reconnect the port to the Union Pacific rail line. The Port terminal provides companies access to efficient transloading of cargo permitting substantial cost savings to shippers.
