Port KC

Port KC serves as a public redevelopment organization for the purpose of generating new capital investment for both private venture and public infrastructure in order to produce new job opportunities, and increased tax base, and for the overall economic vitality of Kansas City.

At the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, renamed “49 Crossing” Port KC has pad ready parcels for facilities of any size. In addition, Port KC has 480,000 sq. ft. of light industrial adjacent to a sophisticated Kansas City Southern rail hub making this the most significant and exciting industrial park development in the region.

Port KC is dedicated to waterborne Missouri River commerce and trade. The Port of Kansas City – Woodswether Terminal reopened in the summer of 2015. Located in the “West Bottoms” the terminal consists of nine acres of inside and outside storage with access to the Union Pacific rail line. The Port terminal provides companies access to efficient Transloading of bulk and breakbulk cargo giving substantial cost savings to shippers.

Port KC is in the development stage of a 415 acre rail, road and water served intermodal hub for containerized freight located at the former ARMCO steel mill site east of downtown. The terminal is expected to be operational in 2024.
