GM'S ASSEMBLY PLANT IN KANSAS CITY WILL BEGIN PRODUCING AN EV IN 2025
General Motors announced the production of the Bolt electric vehicle at its Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. The $391 million investment includes a facility retooling and is GM’s first investment in an EV platform in KC. The Bolt will join the Cadillac XT4 on the same production line using the new Ultium platform, allowing for flexible battery architecture.

Why it Matters:
With more than 100 auto industry suppliers in the region, GM’s commitment to assembling electric vehicles in KC affirms the region’s status as a leading automotive hub. The long-standing presence of Ford and GM’s major production facilities, coupled with Panasonic Energy’s $4 billion investment in its EV battery manufacturing facility, will continue to attract supplier operations to the region.
