Nuuly
URBN announced it will open a new $60 million fulfillment center in Raymore, Missouri for its clothing rental brand, Nuuly. The 604,000-sq.-ft. facility is expected to create 750 jobs within five years. Read more.

West Liberty Foods & Vertical Cold Storage
West Liberty Foods and Vertical Cold Storage plan to establish a food processing center and accompanying cold storage facility at the I-49 Industrial Center in Kansas City, Missouri, representing a collective $199.6 million investment. The two facilities, directly connected to support the production of grab-and-go sandwiches, will occupy a combined 327,000-sq.-ft. and create 583 jobs, with $39.7 in payroll. Read more.

Panasonic Energy Co.
Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd., announced plans to build one of the largest electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facilities of its kind in the United States in De Soto, Kansas. The planned project is expected to create up to 4,000 new jobs and result in an investment of up to $4 billion, which represents the largest economic development project in Kansas history. Simmons Pet Food announced plans to build a new 750,000-sq.-ft. distribution hub in Edgerton, Kansas. The company will invest $115 million and create 177 jobs. Read more.

RLE International, a global engineering and design company, announced it will establish a new Modification and Engineering Center at Hunt Midwest SubTropolis in Kansas City, Missouri, investing $7.5 million and creating 85 high-paying jobs. Boot Barn, the largest western and work wear retailer in the nation, selected Kansas City, Missouri for a retail distribution center, creating 240 jobs.
The Clorox Company
The Clorox Company, a leading consumer goods manufacturer, selected Olathe, Kansas for its product distribution center, which will create 250 jobs.
The Home Depot
The Hope Depot, the world’s largest home improvement specialty retailer, will open a retail distribution center in Kansas City, Missouri that will result in 25 new jobs.

Walgreens
Walgreens announced it will invest $30 million in a +65,000-sq.-ft., micro-fulfillment center in Liberty, Missouri. The facility will create 200 jobs and over $8 million in payroll. The facility is estimated to open by the end of 2022.

ALPLA Inc., a global packaging solutions manufacturer and recycling specialist headquartered in Hard, Austria, will invest in a 246,000-sq.-ft., injection molding facility in Kansas City, Missouri, creating 75 new jobs. ALPLA’s Kansas City addition will be the company’s fourth site in Missouri and the first dedicated to injection molding.

Kenco Logistics Services, LLC, a third-party logistics company, will open a 295,600-sq.-ft. warehouse and distribution operation at Liberty Logistics Park in Liberty, Missouri. Read more.

Pretzels Inc., a leading, family-owned pretzel manufacturer will open a new 146,000-sq.-ft. production facility at VenturePark in Lawrence, Kansas. The company plans to hire 281 and invest $88 million. Read more.

BoxyCharm, a leader in the beauty subscription box industry, has selected Southview Commerce Center II in Belton, MO for their new 575,000 sq. ft. eCommerce operation. The company plans to create 250 jobs at this facility. This project was led by Joe Accurso with Cushman & Wakefield. Additional partners included: State of Missouri, Missouri Partnership, City of Belton, MO, NorthPoint Development, Evergy, Spire and KC SmartPort.

Urban Outfitters, Inc.
Urban Outfitters, a multinational lifestyle retail corporation, will open a new omni-channel distribution center at the Kansas Speedway. The company plans to hire up to 2,000 and invest $350 million. Read more.

Chewy, Inc., an American online retailer of pet food and other pet-related products, will open a new 800,000-sq.-ft. eCommerce fulfillment center in Belton, MO. The company plans to hire 1,200 over the next several years and invest $143.2 million. Read more.

UPS will expand its presence at KCI Airport, which includes a 534,000-sq.-ft. aircraft apron with enough space to park five wide-body cargo jets and a complete renovation of the existing 50,000-sq.-ft. sorting facility. Read more.

Phoenix Package Logistics, LLC, a cargo and freight company based in Sunrise, FL, has leased 30,000-sq.-ft. in North Kansas City, MO for a sort and ship facility. The company plans to hire 15 employees and invest $1.7 million. Block Real Estate Services led this deal for the region. World Pantry
World Pantry selected Hunt Midwest SubTropolis in Kansas City, Missouri for a new 35,000-sq.-ft. distribution center to support its growing eCommerce business. World Pantry is a rapidly growing San Francisco Bay Area based digital commerce company that partners with leading companies to manage and grow their direct to consumer eCommerce businesses.

Tuthill Corporation
Tuthill Corporation, a global manufacturer of industrial pumps, opened a new 53,352-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Lenexa, Kansas, creating 68 jobs and investing $15 million. Read more.

Walmart
Walmart is opening a new 1.8M-sq.-ft. Distribution center in Topeka, Kansas, joining its three existing distribution operations in the KC region. The company has committed to a 10-year $635 million investment that will create 300 new jobs over the next five years. Read more.

Are You Game, a toy and game manufacturer, will open an eCommerce fulfillment, light assembly and distribution operation in Kansas City, Missouri, investing more than $7M. The company plans to hire nine, and will ramp up to 100 seasonal employees during its peak season. Read more.

Tool Source Warehouse (TSW), a national wholesale distributor, announced it will open a new 153,000-sq.-ft. operation at the Lenexa Logistics Center in building No. 7. The company plans to hire up to 25 over the next few years. Niagara Bottling, LLC, a family owned manufacturer of bottled water and soft drinks, will open a new bottle manufacturing facility at CenterPoint Intermodal Center. The company will create nearly 50 new jobs and invest $68 million in a 400,000-sq.-ft. operation. Read more.

Hostess Brands
Hostess Brands, LLC, a leading brand in the Sweet Baked Goods category, announced the opening of a new distribution center in Logistics Park Kansas City in Edgerton, KS. The new location creates synergies with proximity to Hostess’s corporate office as well as its Emporia bakery, access to a highly skilled labor pool and additional opportunities for future projects. “Our new distribution center supports our overall distribution strategy, which is to ensure customers have access to the freshest snacks possible, and positions Hostess for future growth,” said Hostess Senior Vice President John Kalal. PAE, a third-party logistics provider, will lease 500,000 square feet of warehouse space at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC), bringing 75 jobs to the Edgerton community. PAE provides records handling and mail management services supporting the U.S. government in over 100 locations. Read more.

Amazon Flex
Amazon will open a new fulfillment center in Kansas City, MO. The new facility will be approximately 80,000 sq.-ft. and will house operations for the Amazon Flex program, which hires individuals to deliver packages to the end consumer. In addition to the new fulfillment center, Amazon has existing facilities in Wyandotte County, Kansas; Edgerton, Kansas; Lenexa, Kansas; and Shawnee, Kansas.
